Japan's Fuji Rock Festival has just announced it's 2017 lineup, and it's massive. Gorillaz, Queens of the Stone Age, Bjork, LCD Soundsystem and Aphex Twin are set to headline the three-festival at Naeba Ski Resort in Niigata Prefecture, which will take place from July 28th through 30th. With a lineup like this, you can be sure we'll be sure we will be putting it on our wishlist. Are July 4th presents a thing?
The festival also added Lorde, The xx, Major Lazer, Death Grips, Father John Misty, Sturgill Simpson, Bonobo, Sampha, Rhye, Arca, Maggie Rogers, and Day Wave to the lineup, and more announcements are expected soon. We have no idea who else might be added, but do you really need any more? Not that we'd complain.
Fuji Rock is Japan's largest music festival with over 100,000 fans attending each year. The name, however, can be somewhat misleading as the event has not been held at the base of Mount Fuji since its inaugural year. 1997. Last year, Sigur Ros, Beck, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers headlined the festival.
It looks as if 2017 is setting up for one heck of a festival season. Spain's Primavera Sound and Glastonbury have already announced their impressive lineups, but for anyone looking for just one more reason to head to Japan, this might be the straw that breaks the camel's back.
