Next year's Grammy Awards have been confirmed for January 31 at Los Angeles' Staples Center. CBS will air the event, which happens a week earlier than it did this year. Because of the move, the eligibility range for records has been shortened one month, leaving October 1, 2008, through August 31, 2009, as the magic dates.
"We are delighted to host the world's premiere music event in our hometown again, especially with the newly opened Grammy Museum in our backyard," Neil Portnow, the president and chief executive officer of The Recording Academy, said in a statement. "As always, Grammy Week will kick off with events that showcase various genres of music, educational programs and charitable initiatives."
"Music's biggest night on America's most watched network always creates memorable moments for television," Jack Sussman, CBS'executive vice president of specials, music and live events, added. "We look forward to doing it again with our partners at The Recording Academy."
