Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong to Make Broadway Debut Today Through October 3

From punk rocker to Broadway star? Only Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong could make that transition. The producers of American Idiot, the Green Day album that was turned into a Broadway musical, and a Tony-winning Broadway musical at that, announced that Armstrong will make his Broadway debut as St Jimmy in American Idiot today through Sunday, October 3 at the St. James Theater in NYC. Once he wraps this engagement, Armstrong will head to Venezuela for his band's South American tour. He must be an insomniac, because it sounds like he will be getting zero sleep in the future.
Armstrong is filling in for cast member Tony Vincent, who had to take a leave of absence to deal with a family matter. It makes sense that Armstrong would play a character in the musical based on one of his albums instead of one of Vincent's understudies doing the deed and filling in for him. It's authentic and different and not something you can see every day!
Would you go to see Billie Joe Armstrong on Broadway? Or is that just too not-punk-rock for you?
