Green Day have returned to the top of the Billboard 200 for the first time in nearly a decade with their new album Revolution Radio. The record sold 95,000 total copies in its first, giving Green Day their first chart-topper since 2007's 21st Century Breakdown. This is the band's third number one album since 2004's American Idiot. Revolution Radio was also Green Day's 10th Top 10 album, continuing a stretch that began when Dookie peaked at Number Two in January 1995.
The band has been hitting the promo-trail pretty hard in recent weeks. A string of tour dates that started back in September, along with the usual album signings at outlets around the country. At one such event - at the Hollywood Hot Topic - a wide-eyed Green Day fan took a knee in proposal to his girlfriend on Saturday night. The two fans waited in line, took their place in front of the band where the proposal happened. She said yes.
The celebration of modern day love and romance was captured by cameras and quickly shared via the Green Day Instagram. Check out the bemused applause from the chart-topping band.
