    The musical version of Green Day's American Idiot album was nominated for three Tony Awards. It lost the prestigious Best Musical award to Memphis, but the show did nab trophies for Best Scenic Design and Best Lighting Design, which are technical categories but it's still massive to see these Southern California pop-punkers rise to this type of mainstream prominence. Who'd'a thunk it?
