Canadian electro-pop star Grimes, real name Claire Boucher, has been keen to make her political opinions known to her fans since the release of her 2010 debut Geidi Primes.
She's been very critical in the past about conservative former Prime Minister Stephen Harper, telling Vice a year ago that, "Getting anyone besides Conservatives/Harper into power is priority number one. I also feel like the NDP and Liberals need to join together. They are splitting the vote and it's a MASSIVE problem. Other than that, the environment and the missing and murdered indigenous women are some of the most important issues for me."
She was delighted, then, to meet current Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, at Saturday's Global Citizen concert at the Bell Centre in Montreal, a fundraiser to help battle AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.
According to Consequence of Sound, "Trudeau was even nice enough to pose for a picture with Grimes and her crew. We're not sure who should be feeling more lucky here — Trudeau for meeting one of his country's preeminent pop artists, or Grimes for meeting the hipster PM she may have helped to elect."
Grimes posted on her Instagram that the, "grimes team got 2 meet pm Trudeau! thanks global citizen for inviting us to participate and thanks to the people of montreal who took action in the fight against aids and malaria and came to the show."
Grimes has been heavily touring since the release of her breakthrough fourth album Art Angels in November 2015, along with the acclaimed "Kill Vs. Maim" single.
