CartGwen Stefani Says She Was Playing a Character as a Solo Artist

Gwen Stefani had some serious success as a solo artist a few years ago, but boy, she hated it. She is no "Hollaback Girl."
"I did the solo thing," the singer and fashion plate told Vogue. "But I felt like I was trying to play a character in a way, this Alice in Wonderland pretend version of myself. But this, being in No Doubt, is really who I am."
She tried it. She didn't like it. She returned to the band. She was well within her rights to do so.
We love a girl who knows what she wants…although she did have massive success with both of her solo albums.
