Have you experienced Halsey yet? That's what it is when you listen to her, an experience. She’s our “Artist of the Month” for a myriad of reasons, but she’s literally taking the entire music world by storm one fan at a time. She’s packing houses and consistently breaking social media. The initiated get it, and they’re on board for the long haul with the 20-year-old New Jersey singer and songwriter. Her peers also recognize it, hence her spot opening up Imagine Dragons’ and Metric’s massive summer tour, which amphitheaters and other huge venues all over the country. Halsey stands on the cusp of really blowing up. Let’s examine why she’s about to become huge.

For starters, we know music really lives on the road. Halsey literally sold out her headlining tour within an hour. She’s becoming quickly noted for explosive, enigmatic, and entrancing live performances that blend her airy electro pop with an almost punk-ish energy. It’s as sexy as it is scorching, and it’s those kinds of juxtapositions that make her so downright undeniable.

The numbers are starting to speak for themselves. She’s vaulted up Billboard’s Emerging Artists Chart and trended on Twitter. The pulse of pop culture right now continually points to her online. You can follow her hypnotic Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter to get a look at an undeniable personality who was born to be a star.

Her EP Room 93 is literally unlike anything out there. At points, it feels like Portishead in terms of noir-ish spaciness or a cyber punk Florence + the Machine, while at others it’s completely fiery, practically burning at the edges. “Ghost” remains the perfect example. It drops from a soft cooing intro into a hyper fast cadence that circles back into a haunting refrain, “Where’d you go?” It’s subversive, soaring, and seductive pop music that begs closer listens and rewards for them.
