Maybe having your record released early by Urban Outfitters isn't a totally bad thing. Halsey became the first female artist of 2017 to top the Billboard 200 as her sophomore LP Hopeless Fountain Kingdom debuted at number one. There is no word yet on whether those pre released vinyls at the teen clothing hocker chain counted towards the achievement.
Hopeless Fountain Kingdom sold 106,000 total copies in its first week, giving Halsey her first Number One album. The singer's 2015 debut record, Badlands, peaked at Number Two.
There were two more debuts in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart. Country singer Luke Combs' debut LP This One's For You placed number five, while All Time Low's Last Young Renegade came in at number nine.
The rest of the top 10 looked pretty similar to past weeks. Kendrick Lamar's DAMN. held strong at number two. The Epic AF compilation moved up to number three. The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band fell one spot number four, after returning to the chart for the first time in nearly 50 years. Drake's More Life came in at number six, Ed Sheeran's Divide is at seven, the Summer Latin Hits 2017 collection finished at eight. Bruno Mars' 24K Magic rounded out the top 10.
Will Katy Perry's Witness top the charts next week? All indicators are pointing to yes, but we will have to wait to find out.
