We already reported that a case of the Happy Mondays was happening, since the British band had reunited! Now, the band will tour for a month in May. The Mondays broke up nearly 2o years ago, but they are dusting off the tunes and instruments and hitting the road. It's the first time the main lineup has shared a stage since 1992. So like forevs ago!
"We want to put on a really good show," backing vocalist Rowetta Satchell told BBC Radio Manchester over the weekend.
All seven members of the early 1990s lineup met last week to "see if they could sit in a room together," she said. The band's split was not amicable, so being able to get along is a crucial to this "working."
"We decided it would only be special and work if it was the total, original lineup. We're all really excited. They are my family, these boys; I've really missed them ... and I'm sure they've missed each other," she continued.
The seven-member version of Happy Mondays includes frontman Shaun Ryder and bassist brother Paul, drummer Gary Whelan, dancer Mark "Bez" Berry, guitarist Mark Day, keyboard player Paul Davis and Satchell.
