Chris Lawson Jones, a British independent singer-songwriter, will see (and hear) his song "Bitter & Sweet" featured on tonight's episode of the new Rachel Bilson series Hart of Dixie, in which she plays a NYC doctor exported down south!
The song will play for three minutes on the show and the artist told ARTISTdirect.com about how he got his song on the show, so take notes, aspiring and indie artists.
"A fiend of mine passed a few of my tracks to the people who select which songs feature on shows like The OC and Grey's Anatomy and they got in touch to ask if they could use Bitter & Sweet on Hart of Dixie. These music supervisors have a great reputation for sourcing exciting new music for their shows so I'm obviously thrilled to have given this opportunity, it's a wonderful encouragement and endorsement of the music I'm making," Jones said.
He shared some insight on the scene he traffics in, saying, "There's a thriving music scene in London heavily influenced by Americana, country, folk and bluegrass, with my neighbors Mumford & Sons the act to have emerged strongest from it. However, we're trying to make our way in an industry which is becoming harder and harder to get a break in as record companies take fewer risks so a leg up through inclusion in a show like Hart of Dixie gives independent records like mine an invaluable chance to find a wider audience. If I can sell a few records off the back of this I'll be able to get back into the studio soon, I'm just itching to make some more music!"
Good luck! We hope it helps.
Will you watch Hart of Dixie tonight, even if it requires suspension of disbelief when it comes to accepting Rachel Bilson AKA Summer from The OC as a doc? You should tune in to hear this song!
