Over the past few months, Lorde has been teasing that her sophomore album would be coming out at some point in 2017. The singer-songwriter’s debut record, Pure Heroine, came out in 2013, and ever since, fans have been eagerly awaiting any and all news on its successor. Now it seems like we might have an idea when to expect its coronation.
Today, Republic Records’ website lists "Lorde (Confidential Title) 3/7" on the agenda for a meeting on February 21st, which could indicate that new Lorde material could be dropping on March 7. However, we do not know if this is might be for a new single or album.
Back in November, Lorde shared an update on her new record discussing what it was like turning 20 years old. In the letter she posted she revealed a little about her forthcoming record, "Writing Pure Heroine was my way of enshrining our teenage glory, putting it up in lights forever so that part of me never dies, and this record — well, this one is about what comes next.
"I want nothing more than to spill my guts RIGHT NOW about the whole thing — I want you to see the album cover, pore over the lyrics (the best I've written in my life), touch the merch, experience the live show. I can hardly stop myself from typing out the name. I just need to keep working a while longer to make it as good as it can be. You'll have to hold on."
We are still not sure when Lorde’s upcoming record will be out, but by the looks of it, it may be just around the corner. And we couldn’t be more excited about it.
