On Friday, November 6th, the Smithsonian channel will premiere a one-hour special featuring Grammy® award-nominated Hozier in an intimate concert at St. James' church in Dingle, Ireland. The program will run at 10 p.m East and Pacific coast time.
The performance was filmed in front of a small audience at the legendary church during the 2014 Other Voices Festival, and includes interview footage as well as "Work Song," "From Eden," and his hit single, "Take Me To Church," in the stripped down style of MTV Unplugged.
The 25-year-old artist will discuss his quick rise as a global superstar—"It's been crazy," he says. "Things took off in a way I never could have expected"— as well as his musical influences. "Blues is the music that's closest to my heart. All of my influences are blues and African American music. John Lee Hooker. Muddy Waters," Hozier says.
The song "Take Me To Church" was nominated for a 2015 Grammy® Award for Song of the Year, and went to number two on the U.S. and the U.K. charts. Hozier is also up for "Favorite Artist: Alternative Rock" at the upcoming American Music Awards, November 22, to be hosted by Jennifer Lopez.
