Hugh Hefner Saves Hollywood Sign

Playboy publisher and notorious robe wearer Hugh Hefner has donated the final $900,000 needed to preserve the 138 acres that sit behind the Hollywood sign on Mount Lee, which is one of the most iconic symbols in pop culture, in America and the world! Time was ticking away, but Hef swooped in at the last minute. Hey, if he can pay for boob jobs for bunnies and Playmates, tossing some cash to the Hollywood sign should be no financial sweat off his back!
"It would have been a real shame after having restored it if it wound up sold," Hefner, 84, told People on Monday while attending the premiere of Iron Man . "It's become something iconic and represents not only the town but represents Hollywood dreams, and I think that's something worth preserving." The land was on the verge of being sold and being converted into luxury homes and hotels. As if Tinseltown doesn't have enough of those. On the count of three, let's give Hef a big "Thank you!" One. Two. Three. "THANK YOU HEF!"
What's your favorite American landmark? Have you ever had your photo taken with the Hollywood sign in the background?
