Green Hornet Film Moved to January 2011 Release Date

From our "This is a bad sign" file: the Seth Rogen-starring The Green Hornet has had its release date bumped. According to Variety, the forthcoming comic book action film has been jettisoned from a cushy, holiday season release date of December 22 to the much lower profile Martin Luther King Day weekend. Apparently, there is a deafening negative buzz surrounding the film. Rogen, who also co-wrote the script, shed several pounds in order to take on the role of newspaper man Britt Reid and his masked, crime-fighting alter ego, The Green Hornet. Cameron Diaz also stars, as a gumshoe in a reworked role.
The film was also supposed to be released in June, as part of the summer blockbuster season. While sources claim the reason for the constant movement of the release date had to do with production issues, the film is not getting a lot of positive press.
Is this the end for Seth Rogen? Are his 15 minutes ticking off faster than he can eat cheeseburgers or take bong hits? I'm a huge Rogen fan, but think he needs to stick with doofy comedic roles like Knocked Up rather than darker fare like Observe and Report or The Green Hornet. Just sayin'.
