Former Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins, 36, was hit with a 35-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to various sex crimes against children, including touching an infant and attempting to rape a baby, among other offenses, such as making child porn. The judge said Watkins' crimes represented a new low and plumbed the depths of depravity. Yeah, that's a pretty accurate assessment.
The disgraced singer's family has spoken out after the singer has been sentenced.
Watkins' stepfather John Davies, who is married to Watkins' mother Elaine and who raised the pedophile after his natural father died, would like to get his hands on Watkins, saying, "I could cheerfully spend an hour knocking him around a cell. There are things I may well want to say to him. These offenses are so horrific. They are the most heinous crimes. Every one of us is completely and utterly devastated."
To The Daily Mail, he continued, "We chose not to come to court. It is far too distressing for Elaine and for me. My heart aches for her. Ian had a very strong relationship with his mother. It is a very deep bond. My heart aches for any individual who has been drawn into this and been affected by it."
This situation is particularly hard on Watkins' mother, who is in ill health.
Davies, a minister, said that he believes that his fame most certainly corrupted Watkins.
Whatever the case, Watkins' offenses are purely disgusting and unfathomable, and sickening. Reports suggest that he had 27 terabytes of computer storage, much of which was child porn.
Do you think Ian Watkins deserved a more harsh sentence?
