Iggy Pop, Patti Smith, and New Order's Bernard Sumner are just a few of the artists set to play the 30th annual Tibet House Benefit Concert. The event will also celebrate Philip Glass' - who also curated the affair - 80th birthday. The show will take place March 16th at Carnegie Hall in New York, New York.
The Glass-chosen lineup will also feature Laurie Anderson, Phil Cunningham and Tom Chapman, Tenzin Choegyal and Jesse Paris Smith, the electro-acoustic Scorchio Quartet and harpist Lavinia Meijer. More artist announcements are expected soon.
Glass, Pop, Smith, Anderson, and Sumner have all played the Tibet House US Benefit Concert before. Last year's event featured both Glass and Pop, as well as FKA Twigs, Sharon Jones, Gogol Bordello, and others.
Tickets can be purchased via the Carnegie Hall website, and price range from $35 to $200. There is also an additional $500 gala package available that includes concert tickets and admission to a dinner reception, which can be purchased separately via the Tibet House US website.
Proceeds from the concert will support the efforts of Tibet House US, which was founded in 1987 at the request of the Dalai Lama and works to educate and advocate for people on behalf of Tibet.
