Incubus Teams Up With RYOT.ORG for Oklahoma Tornado Victims
Wed, 29 May 2013 11:01:10
RYOT.ORG, in partnership with rock band Incubus and their Make Yourself Foundation, are raising funds for RYOT's Oklahoma Tornado Victims Fund, established last Monday, May 20.
100% of donations (up to $10,000) will be matched by the Make Yourself Foundation for the next week and donors will have the opportunity to win merchandise, autographs and tweets from the band.
RYOT has already raised a total of over $28,000 for the local community in Moore, which was devastated by the storms. With these funds, they've started to distribute Home Depot gift cards to victims of the storm through their partner Operation Blessing. Musicians, like Incubus, are giving back and partnering with philanthropies to do good in the face of disaster, and we applaud them for that.
People who donate to RYOT in this next week will get the chance to win great prizes from Incubus including a scratch vinyl autographed by the band; a one-of-a-kind tapestry with original hand-illustrated art by band members; or to receive personal tweets from @Incubusband. RYOT.org (pronounced RIOT) is a news site that not only updates you on the stories of the day, but also allows you (the reader) to give back. Instead of leaving you feeling helpless and frustrated, RYOT gives readers the power to "Become the News." Every story posted on RYOT.org is accompanied by an action box, which either links directly to a leading organization that is making a positive impact on the issue, a petition, or another related action that allows the reader to have an impact on what you're reading.
