Usually, viral web hoaxes about celebrities claim that someone has died. In his case, hackers claimed that a long-dead rappers was actually alive! PBS officials say hackers cracked into the network's website, posting a fake item that claimed late rapper Tupac Shakur was actually alive and well in New Zealand.

PBS confirmed early Monday morning via the network's official Twitter account that the website had indeed been hacked. The phony story had been taken down as of Monday morning and all is back to normal.

I don't know about you, but I didn't think this one was funny.

Have you ever believed an Internet hoax like this? Or are you always suspicious of such stories?
