Interview: Chanel West Coast Speaks on "Rise Of An Empire", Album, and More
Mon, 10 Mar 2014 10:27:51
"Rise of an Empire puts it out there we're never going to stop rising," asserts Chanel West Coast.
She's on her way along with that empire. The fiery blonde might be familiar from MTV shows such as Fantasy Factory and Ridiculousness, but you really should know her for her talent behind a mic. Chanel West Coast possesses an airtight flow, razor sharp wit, and the ability to belt out an irresistible hook. That's right the girl can sing too—damn well.
"A lot of people aren't expecting me to, but I will be doing a lot more singing on my album when it drops," she adds. "It's going to be a solid blend of rapping and singing."
She reveals more about the album too. "I'm currently working on my first album. I've had to really put in work and prove what I could do to Wayne and the rest of the family. That's why I've been given this opportunity to be on the album. I'm so grateful to be honest. My album is coming together piece by piece. I continuously make music. I'm always in the studio. I go with how I feel for the day. If I'm feeling sad, I'll make a sad song. If I'm feeling something about love, I'll make a love song. If I feel like I want to party that night, I'll make a party song. I make all different types of songs. At the end, collectively, I'll pick out all the songs that go the best together on an album. This is what I do. This is who I am. I'm a rapper first and foremost. Music is my passion in life, and that's what I do first and foremost."
