Sometimes, we like an artist so much that we feel compelled to spread the news twice. That's how we feel about Dash, who we introduced you to very recently. We want to make sure you didn't miss the news item or him, so we're sharing it once more. Dash also overcome some serious adversity, so he's an inspiration to us all. Read on and find out why.
Born in Maryland and raised in Texas, everything seems to be moving quickly for 22-year-old NYU graduate, pop/R&B singer/rapper Dash. Dash's newfound stardom got the attention of Jersey Shore's own DJ Pauly D, who asked Dash to appear on his first single and new show theme song "Night of My Life."
"It’s an amazing opportunity. I’m thrilled to be a part of the launch of Pauly's new show, and honored to be the first artist singing on his first single," said Dash.
But Dash almost didn't make it to where he is now.
At the age of 16, Dash endured life-threatening accident that left him with no mobility or speech. His perseverance and determination brought about a full recovery and an unaccompanied move to NYC, where Dash pursued music, attended college, and worked a part-time job to chase his dream. After graduating from college, Dash persisted in his plight, withstanding a life on the streets and living on friend's couches in order to continue writing and recording music.
"The imprint I left on the dashboard in my accident could have been the last mark I left in life, but I feel I’ve been given another chance to leave a mark of hope in this world," Dash said
"Night of My Life" will be released as the first single from Pauly D's upcoming album, slated to drop later this spring through 50 Cent’s G-Note Records. "Night of My Life" is available now on Itunes and is already reached #3 on the iTunes Dance Chart. [ Download it at iTunes.
