Iron and Wine Announces Double LP, Special Shows
While he's only been around since 2002, Sam Beam has compiled enough back catalogue material for a double CD collection of Iron & Wine rarities called Around the Well. Due out May 19 through Beam's longtime label Sub Pop, it features home recordings, full band jams, and covers of the Postal Service ("Such Great Heights"), New Order ("Love Vigilantes") and the Flaming Lips ("Waitin' For a Superman").To help celebrate this imminent collection of deep cuts, Iron & Wine will play intimate shows in six cities this May, starting with a two-night stand in Seattle on May 4 and 5. A number of different artists will open the tour, including Flight of the Conchords, Lia Ices and Partyface. Outside of that, fans can vote on each show's setlist here.
