Jack White to Release Pre-White Stripes Music
Tue, 05 Jan 2016 14:52:42
Three of Jack White's early bands will be featured in the 27th installment of Third Man Records' The Vault series. The release, a 3xLP box set titled Live at the Gold Dollar, includes live concerts from Two Star Tabernacle, The Go, and Jack White and the Bricks, each pressed to gold vinyl. According to Third Man, also included is: "a previously unheard original song by Jack White [on each LP, and] facsimile flyers, setlists, and band notes galore all housed in a magnificent, soft touch, gold-accented telescoping box."
"While Vault Package #26 showcased a wildly beautiful White Stripes performance from the Gold Dollar in 1999, there's still so much to tell about that time, the bands kicking around and the spirit imbued into all of it," writes the label. "Our 27th Vault package seeks to address that concern. Showcasing full live show recordings from three important bands of that era, each act inhabits a different world stylistically and contributes to a more-detailed overall picture."
That picture includes a portrait of White testing out songs that would soon become White Stripes classics, like the Stripes' "Hotel Yorba" and "Now Mary," performed by Two Star Tabernacle, and the Bricks' live versions of "You've Got Her in Your Pocket" and "Candy Cane Children." The package also contains the added bonus of the Dead Weather single, "Let Me Through" ("Be Still" makes up the B-side).
You'll need a subscription to Third Man's Vault to get these goodies, and you can find more info at ThirdManRecords.com.
