Jacob Collier first gained recognition with his split-screen YouTube videos. When his version of Stevie Wonder's "Don't You Worry 'Bout A Thing" went viral Collier's path was set. His audience developed and grew beyond his one-click wonder, he captured the attention of legendary Quincy Jones, who signed Collier to his management company. Now the prodigious talent is celebrating the release of his album "In My Room" a full length album of original material.
Collier's one-man show has been enhanced by Ben Bloomberg, a Phd student from MIT, who has built a "Live Performance Vehicle" which helps the artist capture the techniques established in his initial videos, and convert the experience for live audiences.
ARTISTdirect caught up with Jacob Collier for a quick chat about his debut album, his love for craft, and his humble location, filled with music.
