James Brown's Estate to Remain Intact

A 2009 deal that would give nearly a half of the late James Brown's fortune to a charitable trust, a quarter to his widow, Tomi Rae Hynie, and the remainder of the funds to his adult children has been overturned.
The justices of South Carolina Supreme Court determined the agreement didn't abide the soul singer's wishes. He wanted to donate the majority of his money to charity.
Brown died on Christmas Day in 2006. He was 73.
