James Marsden To Topline Straw Dogs Remake

James Marsden will star in the lead role of Screen Gems' updated remake of the disturbing 1971 thriller Straw Dogs.

The original featured Dustin Hoffman in the lead role. In the update, Marsden will portray Los Angeles screenwriter David Sumner, who moves to the deep South with his wife, where she was born and raised. Upon their transplantation, tensions rise within their marriage and in their environment as they battle with locals, which leads to a violent confrontation. The film marks a sharp stylistic turn for Marsden, known for appearing in light rom-coms such as last year's 27 Dresses and Enchanted.
