James Murphy Isn't Sure Splitting Up LCD Soundsystem Was Smart

Oops! James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem thinks he may have made a bad decision by breaking up the project last year.
"I don't know if it's a good decision," he told The Hollywood Reporter. "And, at times, I wish I wasn't retired. It's a rare thing when a band stops playing together when everybody really still loves each other and everything's fine. So it wasn't like, 'Oh, we have creative differences and we want to move on.'"
But overall, he had to break up the band due to the lack of sustainability. It really sounds like he was torn, though. "So I regret it in the sense that I like them, and we like each other and we want to make more music, but I don't regret it because... it wasn't sustainable. For anybody," he said.
April 2, 2011 marked the band's final show, which took place at Madison Square Garden in New York City. It is documented in the film Shut Up and Play the Hits. The film will be released for a one night only engagement on July 18, ahead of the digital and DVD release. Some tickets are still available, so check your local theater and go!
