CartJames Taylor Is Taking a Year Off

Legendary rock singer James Taylor, who sang at Obama's second inauguration ceremony last week, is going on vacation. But he is not seeking fun in the sun or quiet time. He is actually taking a year off to find inspiration so he can create new music.
Taylor has no plans to tour for the remainder of 2013 as he wants to focus on writing new songs. His performance at the inauguration will be his last until he wraps the new album.
"It's funny to say, but you actually have to be bored in order to write," Taylor told Rolling Stone. "So I'm looking forward to some empty time in front of me to really focus on the music again. That's what I'm meant to do."
That's interesting, since most writers need to be in the middle of strife and tumult and turmoil in order to write.
