Singer songwriter extraordinaire Jason Derülo sat down with ARTISTdirect.com for an exclusive video interview where he gave us the scoop and the skinny on his upcoming second album Future History. Derülo, who revealed he calls upon personal experience when writing music, zeroed in on his single, the infectious "Don't Wanna Go Home," which we think is the quintessential club banger of 2011. It will force even the most tone deaf wall flower to get off their ass and dance. Derülo revealed that the song "is about a perfect party," which he never wanted to end and which he hoped would last all night and well into the morning hours. Who can’t relate to that feeling? There is always that one party that makes you feel that way.
Derülo also said that he wanted his album to be upbeat and to be a "feel good" platter that would counteract all the turmoil in the world, and he certainly succeeded. You can listen to "Don't Wanna Go Home" and lose yourself for a few moments.
ARTISTdirect.com editor in chief Rick Florino puts it best, "He's got the fire and fervor of Michael Jackson in his hey day mixed Black Eyed Peas-style futurism, and that's why he continues to make timeless pop."
Derülo commented on the high energy dancing that takes place in the video for "Don't Wanna Go Home," but he also mentioned that the album is not just dance party anthems. He said that some of the songs he recorded brought him to tears and that others were recorded when was plastered and drunk, since he wanted to capture everything in the moment.
