Singer-songwriter Jason Reeves, an L.A. transplant originally from Iowa, took a moment to sit down with ARTISTdirect.com for this exclusive video interview. Reeves opens up about some of his influences and favorites (Bob Dylan, Radiohead) and the fact that he wanted to write songs about "love and things that are breaking me apart and setting me on fire, and all the things in between that. " Reeves admits that when he was writing and recording his album The Lovesick, he was experiencing a whole mess of ups and downs and all the songs were coming from that place. It makes for a genuine album that packs an emotional wallop, for sure.
Reeves also talks about the surprises that inform songs like "Sticks and Stones."
Reeves also performs "Helium Hearts" and reveals that the song is about "catching fire with someone else for the first time and floating away from everything." Ah, to be in love. Haven’t we all experienced that feeling? Reeves just captures it in a song.
Plus, Reeves gives us "Sticks and Stones" acoustic!
About the The Lovesick, ARTISTdirect.com editor and Dolor author Rick Florino writes, "Jason Reeves has crafted an elegantly entrancing pop masterpiece that's as hypnotic as it is heartbreaking. Reeves pens songs with a mastery a la Bob Dylan and a sense of wonder reminiscent of Coldplay. He's made an incredible, infectious opus that anyone can feel after just one listen. Get Lovesick with Jason Reeves and you'll never be the same."
