JAY-Z is back atop the throne on the this week's Billboard 200. Hov nabbed his 14th Number One album without much of a challenge from anyone else. With 4:44, the rapper extends his own record for chart-topping albums among solo artists — Barbra Streisand and Bruce Springsteen each have 11. He only trails The Beatles' 19 chart-toppers for all-time Number One records amongst all artists.
4:44 sold 262,000 total copies after the album's weeklong Tidal exclusivity expired — this week the LP appeared on other streaming services, digital music stores and as a physical release.
Another debut came in second this week as 21 Savage's Issa Album entered the chart — it netted 77,000 total copies sold. Elsewhere on the chart, Kendrick Lamar's DAMN. remained at number three, DJ Khaled's Grateful fell to number four after two weeks on top, Ed Sheeran's Divide stayed at number five, while Imagine Dragon's Evolve dropped to number six.
Sister trio Haim grabbed their second Top 10 record this week with Something to Tell You, when they entered the chart at number seven. It was one slot behind their freshmen record's debut, which came in at number six in 2013. In an interesting note, both albums had 26,000 traditional album sales in their opening week.
Rounding out the chart were Calvin Harris' Funky Wav Bounces Vol. 1, which fell to number eight. The Moana soundtrack climbed one slot to number nine and Drake continued to slowly fall down the chart, dropping to number 10.
In other JAY-Z news, the rapper dropped a video for his 4:44-track "Bam" featuring Damian Marley. It takes places on the streets of Kingston, Jamaica, but unfortunately it's a Tidal exclusive.
