Jeff Lynne’s ELO Details First US Tour In 36 Years
Mon, 13 Nov 2017 11:34:24
Next August, Jeff Lynne's ELO will tour the US for the first time since 1981. The announcement comes in advance of the band's live concert CD/DVD, "Wembley or Bust", which is set for release this Friday, November 17. The compilation will give fans a glimpse into live performances of ELO in their modern incarnation.
Known most widely for their 1977 hit, "Mr. Blue Sky", Electric Light Orchestra first formed in 1970, but has operated under multiple monikers since then, including ELO, the Orchestra, ELO Part II, and now Jeff Lynne's ELO. Over the course of their career, they've released 20 songs that have earned top 40 rankings on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The 2018 tour announcement comes after a busy period for this most recent iteration. In 2017, they performed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony as part of the class of inductees, while 2016 saw them touring Europe in support of their first album in 14 years, 2015's Alone in the Universe.
In a statement accompanying the tour's announcement, Jeff Lynne said, "Our Audiences are amazing. It's like they're in the group. We can't wait to play for them again."
Tickets for the 2018 tour go on sale November 17th of this year, while American Express cardmembers and fans who pre-order "Wembley or Bust" before November 14th will receive a priority access code allowing them to purchase tickets early.
