And gets a standing ovation
Jennifer Hudson Tops NAACP Awards
The 40th Annual NAACP Image awards were held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles last night, with 53 awards dished out to members of the music, TV, and literature community. Jennifer Hudson took the most trophies home, including best new artist, outstanding collaboration and album. She also received a standing ovation."Now don't start me to crying again, y'all," Hudson said as she accepted an award. "It's always an honor to come home and feel welcome and to feel the love."
Another big winner was Russell Simmons, who received the NAACP's top nod—the Vanguard trophy that’s been given to such artists and entertainment industry icons as Prince, Steven Spielberg and Aretha Franklin. For a list of this year's key winners, head here.
