Jesse Eisenberg is set to play beat poet Allen Ginsberg in Kill Your Darlings, an ensemble effort about the murder which was the impetus of the Beat Generation of poets. Chris Evans and Ben Wishaw are also slated to star in the film, which is not a Ginsberg biopic.

Wishaw is set to play Lucien Carr, a Columbia student who linked Ginsberg with Jack Kerouac, played by Evans, and William S. Burroughs. Killer Films is producing.

Another Ginsberg film, Howl, which is titled after one of his poems, is also in production. That film is centered on the obscenity trial that Ginsberg endured due to the titular poem. It is currently shooting in New York City, with Paul Rudd and James Franco among the film's cast members. Franco will play the poet. Jon Hamm has also accepted a role in the film. He will play defense attorney Jake Ehrlich, whose life was the inspiration for the Perry Mason legal eagle TV series.
