On Saturday April 20, John Legend hosted an event to celebrate the Show Me Campaign, a nonprofit organization founded by the singer that works to break the cycle of poverty through education.
Held at John Legend's Hollywood Hills home, the event raised more than $200,000 to support the Show Me Campaign's education programs, including upcoming projects in Los Angeles! That is amazing. Nice work, Mr. Legend.
Legend himself captivated guests with a live performance, previewing his upcoming album Love in the Future before introducing music icon Stevie Wonder, who accompanied Legend on harmonica for "Ordinary People," before playing some of his own greatest hits.
The evening also featured a luxury auction by Christie's. Guests bid on a variety of one-of-a-kind items ranging from a double date with John Legend and fiancé Chrissy Teigen to Legend's personal piano, where he wrote hits like "If You're Out There" and "Green Light."
The evening was co-hosted by Boston Consulting Group, The Eli and Edythe Broad Foundation and Gucci. Unreal Candy, Creative Artists Agency, Ralph Lauren. Morgan Stanley and Exxon Mobil also supported the event. All proceeds from the event will support the Show Me Campaign's education programs.
John Legend's philanthropy is becoming legendary!
