Tomorrow, which is Friday, September 21, 2012, nine-time Grammy® Award winning musician and philanthropist John Legend will perform at the annual Andy Roddick Foundation (ARF) gala. JL and AR? Oh yes. Yes, yes, yes.
Roddick, who recently announced his retirement from tennis, has made giving back a part of his career. In 2000, he established ARF to make a difference in the lives of youth in underserved communities and in 2004 was awarded the Arthur Ashe Humanitarian Award for his charity efforts.
Roddick stated, "The foundation is growing, and we have some very exciting plans, but we need the continued support of those behind our cause to reach our shared goals." To spearhead the foundation's growth, Roddick recently appointed Jeffrey Lau as ARF's new Chief Executive Officer. Lau said, "We are transforming ARF from an all-volunteer charity into a professional, not-for-profit organization focused on teaching character and life lessons to underserved youth through sports-based mentoring and education."
Roddick will kick off the foundation's new strategy with the 7th Annual ARF gala. Legend will be joined by Brooklyn Decker, Chrissy Teigen, Camila Alves, and several other athletes and celebrities who support youth causes, and will feature live and silent auctions. All proceeds go to support the Andy Roddick Foundation and its partners. Sponsors of the event include SAP and Grey Goose.
The gala will start at 5:30 p.m. at the W Hotel Austin, 200 Lavaca Street in Austin, Texas.
Brooklyn Decker is Roddick's wife, BTW. We remember when he dated Mandy Moore. Many moons ago.
Concert-only tickets are available at www.acl-live.com, the venue box office, or by phone at 1-877-4-FLYTIX. Ticket prices range from $49-$129.
Any Austinites attending?
