John Lennon's handwritten lyrics to "A Day in the Life" are going up for auction in New York in June, so says Reuters. The lyrics are expected to fetch a hefty sum, ranging from $500,000 to $700,000. The lyrics are written on a single piece of paper and feature both a rough draft on one side and a cleaner copy of them on the reverse.
The auction is scheduled for June 18.
Why would someone pay that much for a lyric sheet? Who has that kind of scratch for a piece of rock memorabilia when the rest of the population is struggling to make ends meet? Shouldn't they be donated to the rock 'n' roll Hall of Fame instead? What's your favorite song that was written by the one and only Lennon?
