Jon Bon Jovi's "pay-what-you-can" charity restaurant in New Jersey is open and it's located in -drumroll, please- New Jersey! The Dirty Jer-Z.
The eatery is called Soul Kitchen and it is located in Kevin Smith's Red Bank stomping grounds. It is designed to help the hungry without the stigma of a soup kitchen! And why we already know that all the cool people come from New Jersey, we are so touched by JBJ's kind, considerate actions with this eatery.
There are no prices on the menu. Diners pay according to a sliding scale. Those without money can still eat provided they're willing to work in the restaurant or perform some community service. Wash dishes after you eat a tuna melt and chocolate shake a la Pee Wee Herman?
Bon Jovi told The Associated Press he's heavily involved in the operation, including rolling up his sleeves behind the scenes to wash dishes. But he can't cook!
The restaurant operates out of a former auto body shop near the Red Bank train station. JBJ's charitable foundation is subsidizing it.
Applause to one of Jersey's favorite sons! We absolutely LOVE this idea!
What do you think of Bon Jovi's pay-what-you-can eating joint!
