2009 Best Supporting Actor nominee Josh Brolin, who was honored for his work in Milk, and 1991 Best Actor Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins will be joining director Woody Allen in London this summer. The celebrated actors are the first to be cast in the as-yet untitled film from the director. Allen wrote the script as well. The film's title and plot details are being kept firmly under wraps by Allen.
Allen has not found a distributor for the film; however, he recently partnered up with Sony for the release of Whatever Works, which marks his return to New York City as a story setting. Allen's recent films, such as Vicky Cristina Barcelona and Match Point, have been filmed overseas.
In other Brolin-related news, John Malkovich has joined the cast of Jonah Hex. Brolin is playing the bounty-hunting title character, while Malkovich will appear as his nemesis Turnbull, a wealthy plantation owner whose son is killed by Union soldiers during the Civil War. Turnbull blames Hex for his son's death. The film, based on a DC Comic, starts production in April.
