After only a year, Journey announced the departure of their third front man, Jeff Scott Soto. Soto's first appearance with the classic rockers happened on July 7, 2006, after previous singer Steve Augeri left mid-tour due to an illness.
Guitarist Neal Schon said in a public statement, "We appreciate all of Jeff's hard work and we can't thank him enough for stepping in when Steve Augeri got sick last year. He did a tremendous job for us and we wish him the best. We've just decided to go our separate ways, no pun intended. We're plotting our next move now."
There's great speculation circulating in the blogosphere that the band is actually gearing up to reunite with their original frontman, Steve Perry. There's also been a renewed interested in the Journey catalog since the season finale of The Sopranos used the hit song "Don't Stop Believin'" in the final scene.
