Julianne Moore, Colin Firth, and Matthew Goode are on board for A Single Man, the film based on Christopher Isherwood's 1964 novel about a gay English professor dealing with the unexpected death of his partner. Despite his loss, the prof tries not to deviate from his usual routines over the course of a single day in Southern California.
Firth is set to play the professor, with Goode taking the role of his lover. Moore will play a friend of Firth's character. Tom Ford, the legendary fashion designer who shot to fame during his decade-long tenure with Gucci, during which time he revitalized the legendary fashion house, adapted the screenplay and is scheduled to direct the project. Ford, who is gay himself, has been aiming to transition into films since 2004, when he stepped down from his post at Gucci. He also created perfumes and cosmetics for the Estee Lauder brand and started the production company Fade to Black.
The film begins shooting next week.
