Rock star couple Juliet Simms (NBC’s The Voice, Automatic Loveletter) and Andy Biersack (lead singer of Black Veil Brides) have opened up their closets to raise money for Big Cat Rescue and Running Wild in the Night, respectively.
Juliet donated several pieces from her personal closet and musical tours, including memorabilia items such as a piece from her finale performance on The Voice, a national anthem performance and several articles worn during her shows on the Warped Tour. Pieces from Andy's closet include his on-stage looks and original Black Veil Brides concert T-shirts and hoodies. These pieces and more will be available for bid on eBay today, Monday, March 18.
"With the release of my latest single 'Wild Child,' it felt so natural for me to benefit Big Cat Rescue," says Juliet. "It is so important for me to help provide the best home for these exotic animals, help support these cats and help put an end to the abuse."
Big Cat Rescue is the largest accredited sanctuary in the world dedicated entirely to abused and abandoned big cats. They are home to over 100 lions, tigers, bobcats, cougars and other species most of whom have been abandoned, abused, orphaned, saved from being turned into fur coats, or retired from performing acts. Their dual mission is to provide the best home they can for the cats in their care and educate the public about the plight of these majestic animals, both in captivity and in the wild, to end abuse and avoid extinction. "We are very excited to be partnering together with Ms. Juliet Simms and our wonderful friends at Closets for Causes," says Jeff Kremer, Big Cat Rescue’s Director of Donor Appreciation. The sanctuary envisions a world where the animals we share it with are treated with compassion and respect and it is only by working 'hand in hand' with such like-minded friends that Big Cat Rescue is able to continue to make a positive difference in both the animal as well as human world that we share in.
Andy is supporting his good friend Nikki Sixx, founder and bassist of Mötley Crüe, with proceeds from his auction benefitting the organization Sixx founded, Running Wild in the Night, dedicated to helping at-risk youth.
Sixx knows first-hand what it’s like to have to fend for yourself on the streets, which is why he launched the program, part of a fundraising initiative for Covenant House California. Covenant House California is a non-profit agency whose mission is to reach out to at-risk homeless youth living on the streets and offer them hope and opportunities to turn their lives around. "We are extremely pleased to have Andy team up with Closets for Causes to raise money for Running Wild in the Night," says executive director George R. Lozano. "The funds will be used to help at-risk youth at Covenant House California who desperately need hope and opportunities. His generosity will literally be saving lives."
"Growing up I felt a strong and unrelenting connection to music, I was fortunate to have heroes to look up to like Nikki Sixx that inspired me and gave me a constant drive to never give up," says Andy about Running Wild in the Night. "Today I am proud to be able to call Nikki a friend and advisor. His work with his charity Running Wild in the Night helps give underprivileged youth a chance to learn and create music and is something I am more than proud to be able to support."
