Like all things prehistoric, the hip-hop group is officially history
Jurassic 5 Breaks Up
After a 15 year run, the Los Angeles hip-hop collective Jurassic 5 are calling it quits. Group member Soup, a.k.a. Zaakir, announced that following a short tour in Australia and Japan, J5 is over."After the tour, that's basically it," Soup said. "I don't want to sit here and fake around with it—we're not seeing eye to eye right now. People see us a harmonizing, loving group, but that's far from the truth."
He continued, "Some people here want their own shrine, their own thing. If that's what you want, I say more power to you. I hope it works out for you—just don't come up with lame excuses."
The Los Angeles crew's last album, Feedback, which was released on July 25th, 2006 on Interscope Records, debuted at #15 on the Billboard 200 chart. The first single, "Work It Out," featured a cameo by Dave Matthews.
