Justin Bieber's "Baby" Is Highest Certified Song Ever

How's this for millennial statistics? Justin Bieber’s hit single "Baby" is the highest-certified song in U.S. history.
The signature song has gone 12-times platinum since its release in 2010, beating Elton John's "Candle in the Wind/Something About the Way You Look Tonight," which went 11 times platinum in 1997.
Since the RIAA made a recent rule change, which incorporated on-demand streaming figures with the single sales, Biebs was able to triumph.
The new rule means the song, which has only sold 3.9 million copies, is to combine tallies with the promo clip, which has been viewed over 857 million times on Vevo.com, thus toppling John's track, which sold 33 million units.
Okay, got it? The digital age factored into this rule change and it got us thinking about how views and visibility stats now account for success. Now we pose a very important question to you, dear reader. Is that fair?
