Justin Bieber's "Under the Mistletoe" is a New Christmas Classic — 5 out of 5 stars

Justin Bieber only keeps getting better.
His brand new holiday offering, Under the Mistletoe, is quite the gift. Not only is the album a new Christmas classic, but it's also Bieber's best record to date. Under the Mistletoe highlights every facet of Bieber. His delivery is pristine and potent on the soul-infused "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" as well as the piano-driven slow jam, "Christmas Eve". No one can croon over an acoustic guitar like Bieber though. A lilting strum and fingersnaps drive the first single and title track as the singer enchants. The snowy guitar also colors "Only Thing I Ever Get For Christmas" before it slips into another massive refrain. He needs his own MTV Unplugged stat!
"The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire)" sees Bieber and Usher trading verses over a magical and smooth collaboration for the ages. Both of them are on fire on this update of a timeless tune, and you'll practically smell those chestnuts roasting. Boyz II Men add further R&B shine to "Fa La La" while Busta Rhymes brings a cheery rap charm to "Drummer Boy". Bieber covers a myriad of genres here, and he does them all flawlessly.
Mariah Carey and Bieber join forces on an update of the former's "All I Want for Christmas Is You (Superfestive!)". It's here that Bieber truly shines. He and Carey simply soar together, bringing the holiday spirit to new heights. A dreamy "Silent Night" closes the album out, seeing Bieber at his most bare with just a piano melody.
This further illuminates why Bieber is on top. Can't wait to see where it goes next…
