Kate Pierson— the iconic voice and founding member of The B-52s, who are a punk, new wave, genre-defying band— will release her debut solo record Guitars and Microphones on February 17. Her songs are rife with girl group wit and drama, thus rejecting stereotypes and pre-conceived ideas at every turn.
She has shared the new song "Bring Your Arms," which has an amazing message. It is not only an immediately infectious synth-pop jam, but it has a move-to-the-groove environmental theme. Co-written by Sia and Chris Braide, the song was inspired when Kate and Sia witnessed sea turtle egg rescue while on a trip to Tulum in Mexico. Environmental activists themselves, they found it moving and thus Sia hatched the song for Kate.
