Katy Perry Battling Hair Care Company ghd

Katy Perry is/was the spokeswoman for British hair care company "ghd" (that's short for "good hair day") and had a contract that began in 2011, where she was asked to hawk the company's products for two years to the tune of $4.5 million. Perry's agent says she is owed an additional $2 million based on an oral agreement to extend her contract. No oral agreement exists, so says ghd.
Jemella Group, which owns ghd, claims the oral agreement is bogus and that they don't want to re-up with Perry since she is less popular than she once was, at least across the pond. The company conducted market research and those were the findings. Jemella said Perry's agent threatened to sue for the $2 million, so Jemella beat them to the punch.
Perry's rep told TMZ: "Jemella's attempt to embarrass Ms. Perry by including defamatory statements about her in a public filing is shameful." The rep says they plan to sue over the money Katy's owed if they don't right this wrong. Additionally, Perry said, "They're backing out of the deal because of an ownership change, and just throwing shade to hide their bad faith."
