Katy Perry Says She Won't Pay-to-Play Super Bowl Halftime Show

Katy Perry was supposedly one of several artists in discussions with the NFL to play the Halftime Show at the Super Bowl in 2015, but the singer is not interested in having to give the NFL a percentage of tour earnings or to pay a fee in order to do so.
"We had some conversations and I would be honored, of course, but I have let them know that I'm not the type of girl that would pay to play the Super Bowl so the ball is in their field," Perry said during an appearance Saturday morning on ESPN's "College Game Day" program.
The Wall Street Journal had reported that the NFL had asked Perry, Coldplay and Rihanna if they'd be willing to offer a percentage of their future tour income or some sort of financial contribution in order to play The Halftime Show.
Since playing The Halftime Show means maj exposure, the NFL would seem to feel that artists should not just get that storm of publicity for free.
