Country singer and former American Idol contestant Kellie Pickler shaved her head after her best friend, Summer Miller, was diagnosed with breast cancer. What a show of solidarity. The adorable Pickler is such a good friend!
Prior to Miller embarking on her chemotherapy treatment, she and Pickler simultaneously shaved their heads to bring awareness to the importance of early detection and documented the whole process! See a photo of a buzzed Pickler at www.athenawater.com.
"Cancer does not discriminate," Pickler says. "If this compels even one person to change their mentality toward waiting until the age of 40 for their mammogram, then it will be worth it," Miller, 36, concurred.
Pickler has partnered with Athena Water, which will make a monetary donation to the American Cancer Society in Miller's honor. Additionally, Athena will contribute a minimum of $2 million to support breast cancer awareness, care, education and research by 2014.
