Kendrick Lamar's follow up to last year's To Pimp a Butterfly is out now on streaming services Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Google Play, and for sale on iTunes. The surprise new album is called untitled unmastered. The album is composed of eight tracks that are, indeed, untitled, save for dates that seem to indicate the time of recording.
The album first appeared last night when the track listing and album art unexpectedly surfaced on Spotify. Following the project's listing, the full album was soon made available for streaming.
Earlier this week, Top Dawg CEO Anthony Tiffith hinted at a Kendrick Lamar release this year, as well as indicating plans to drop a new album this week. Lamar had also mentioned a "chamber" of unreleased material in an interview on 2DopeBoyz.
untitled unmastered contains two untitled songs Kendrick Lamar recently performed on TV. He debuted "untitled 3" during the last days of "The Colbert Report;" and in January he played "untitled 8" (previously called "untitled 2") on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon."
Swizz Beatz has said on Instagram that his and Alicia Keys' five-year-old son, Egypt, is responsible for producing "untitled 7." Watch Egypt compose the beat on Swizz Beatz's Instagram. The 8-minute track is the longest on the album, which has a total run time of 34 minutes.
"untitled 6" was co-produced by Adrian Younge and A Tribe Called Quest's Ali Shaheed Muhammad, and features vocals from Cee-Lo Green.
